Philippines – Nation of Servants

I was bloghopping when I read the Sassy Mom’s blog post on Chip Tsao’s article about Philippines being a nation of servants.
Who does Tsao he think he is, a god ? He’s even bragging of having his maid work 16 hours a day and even said that should a war break – they already have hostages at their very own home. I don’t think we deserve this.
It’s not that Filipinos are too sensitive but I think this is just below the belt. We all eat to survive, we all go to the toilet to poop!

Cheap Tsao.
That is totally uncalled for. Your arrogance is amazing, really, considering there are millions of Chinese nationals who hold jobs that are much worse — all over the world. But that’s not the point. Fact is, these maids are simply working hard to provide for their families back home. Why take it out on them? That is just low. It’s very childish to displace your anger to people who didn’t do you wrong
I am tempted to blurt out insults but I’d rather not stoop down to your level. Filipinos know better.

I had a similar post in my blog about Philippines being the “Nation of SLaves”… I referred to my experience there but that was written in the first quarter of 2008 I believe. I have never read this write up of Chip but if that person is telling reality, which I believe more probable than not, I think we better accept the fact and try to change it. No hypocrisies.

When I read the post, I was completely outraged! Magfilipino pa ako dito (and yes, I’m a Filipino) para mas maipalabas ko yung sama ng loob ko.
Who the hell do you think you are Chip?!? Just because you can write in English like an average Filipino doesn’t mean you have the rights to talk about anything. Kahit akong student journalist nga may dinadala pa naman dignidad sa pagsusulat.
If you’re talking about Spratly islands, then go and have it. Ni hindi niyo nga maasikaso yang kaylaking bansa ninyo (puro lang kayo payabang sa international scene pero and daming naghihirap na Chinese). Sleeping giant rings a bell???
As for cheap Filipino labor, hold your toungue. In the seafarers world, it is said that companies would have preferred Chinese than Filipinos seafarers because of their ‘cheaper labor costs’. The reasons why they prefer Filipino are because of the unchallenged industry, skill and take note ‘English competence’.

Why is it that this chinese insect considered Filipinos as slaves? Is he not aware that China in essence is a huge concentration camp under communist gun point? Surely, their ruling class can flash their luxurious life in front of international cameras, but what about the majority of the people in China? Are they as free as the Filipina maids?

this is really discriminating Mr. CHEAP CHOW please use your common sense it doesnt mean that if a lot of filipinas are working as a maid in your country dnt make us a nation of servant. i knew a lot of chinese who are badbreathe so are you a nation of badbreathe? i also knw a lot of chinese who are stubborn and stupid, so are you a nation os stupidity? Mr. Cheap Chow please every country has its bright side and dark side its ups and downs etc etc so please use your brain if you have one before writing a column. as a columnist you must know how a person will interpret what you are saying. Go back to school and learn how to be a real columnist and go back to your mothers womb so your mother will teach you again a good behaviour.
