Designing my dream kitchen
This is the first time that I will be designing our kitchen – my dream kitchen. I always wanted to have a kitchen island and my dearest hubby said Yes! I think kitchen islands are great way to bring the social atmosphere back into the kitchen. They encourage your family and friends to hang out while you cook without getting in your way, or give them a space to help out. A well placed and designed kitchen island directs the flow of traffic in the kitchen, both physically and socially.
I am really excited to have my plans initiated. It’s fun to design the kitchen especially for the homemakers. I have already been looking for some more ideas and here are some that I found online:

So, why did I decide to have a kitchen island? An island provides you a significant amount of counter space to work with. In the preparation of food, this counts a lot particularly when you are working on large meals. This space can also make an excellent serving spot for a buffet-style meal, as well as a nice casual place to eat a snack or have drinks.
Now that I have finished deciding on where to the counter to put the sinks and the stove, next will be the walls. I am considering glass tile for backsplash because it is easier to clean and with the inventory I have seen on glasstiletrend.com I think I am almost sold.
The site is very pleasing to the eyes, it makes me want to browse around the whole day. If you look on the left sidebar, you will see there all the types of glass tile they offer. I particularly like the bamboo glass tile and the art pebbles glass tile. I think you can find any tile you want here, whatever your budget is. Just click the glass tiles on clearance on the sidebar to see what I mean.
Also if you have questions, you can almost find all the answer at the FAQ, if it’s not there you could easily send them your query via the contact form and they promise to respond immediately.
It’s just a pity they only ship within the US but hey if you have family in the US, you can ask them to receive it for you. For orders above $199, the shipping is free.
Planning our home interior design
In a few months we will be in our new home. I cannot wait to start designing the interiors of our house. I plan to use native materials as much as possible like woven straw mats (banig) and batik asian fabric, bamboo and lots of rattan and furniture. I might consider some asian contemporary furniture too for my office but I haven’t really decided yet. I already have lots of ideas and I am really looking forward to designing our home myself.
Living on the Farm
On the second part of this year we will be definitely moving to our farm in the Philippines and we are very much looking forward to it . We will be staying at our guesthouse till our house is done.
It looks very homey now and sometimes I think to myself, we could also just live here and not build the other house but then again we will have kids later on and this house might not be big enough.
As you can see, the guesthouse has been varnished and it has now plants around it. We gave the farm kids some job so that they can earn some pocket money.
Days in the farm are hot. You would sweat like a pig if you walk around there but the mornings are very cold so an electric blanket or any blanket at all will be very useful.
