3 Years in Singapore

March marks our third year of living in Singapore. I can’t believe how time flew by so quickly. I can still remember when we just got here, we were sweating like pigs (do pigs sweat?), boy we had to shower like three times a day when we just got here probably because we had to get acclimatize to warm weather still.

Us when we just got here

When we arrived here, we stayed for 3 months in a serviced apartment in Orchard , all expense paid by the company. Great great time, free lodging and we dined out every night for free too. Ahhh the good old days.

During the first two months we did house hunting. We didn’t find a place we liked immediately as most condos here are small, not enough to put all the stuff we brought with us. We eventually found a place, a landed house to be exact that’s big enough. It had 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. In front of the house was a pre school, I didn’t think that would be a problem.

We thought we really found a gem, what I realized later on was, the house was too big for me to clean and the noise from the pre school is irritating as hell. We were always awaken by crying children who didn’t want to go to school. Oh it’s just terrible. We survived for two years and then we decided it’s time to move, we need a change of environment and a good sleep.

We found a place we liked nearby the East coast beach park. We have been living here for a year now. I wish we had chosen to live in a condo in the very beginning. It’s so much better here. It’s nearby the everything, park, food establishments, and there’s even a convenience store right inside the condo compound.

And come June we will be embarking on yet a new adventure, we will be moving again but this time it’s for good. We are moving to the Philippines! I am very excited I am actually already looking for  long distance moving companies this early. I am  really excited about this move.

Will I miss Singapore?

Of course I will miss Singapore alot. I will miss the laksa , the duck noodles, visiting the Botanical Garden, the Jurong Bird Park and The Singapore Zoo and many more but anyway we are not moving on the other side of the world so I am sure we will visit once in awhile.

Cosplay Encounter at Chingay 2010

I was excited when I read somewhere that there will be cosplayers at the Chingay Pasar before the parade so I made sure we get there early so we can eat and have lots of energy all night and of course so I can take nice pictures, I am terrible in making pictures at night, I still need to learn a lot.

It’s my first encounter with cosplay peeps and I had fun snapping their pictures. You can see that they have been doing this regularly, they were all so relaxed in their costumes and even has props with them like a sword, balloon pet, cigar and etc. They were all very cute, approachable and friendly. It looks really fun dressing up. If given the chance I would give this a try.

I wonder when the next cosplay event in Singapore is? I hope I am still here in Singapore by that time.

Thanks for all the Cosplayers that posed for me!

Enchanting weekend at Chingay Parade 2010

Chingay parade happens every year around the Chinese New Year. It is the grandest parade in Asia and since this is our last year  in Singapore, I decided now is the time to  witness it.

Traditional dragon and lion dancers seize the parade grounds by storm! Cover your ears as you marvel at the crackling Chingay’s FIRST pair of Fire-cracker dragons!

The were about 7000 performers from 5 countries like Bhutan, Indonesia and Japan. The parade performers are from all ages and they were all magnificent, about 60,000 people attended this event.

We were thrilled by waves of colours, glittering floats and high energy moves by the performers!

Chingay 2010 was spectacular! It was worth every dollar we paid. We’re glad we went there.
