Going Vegan?

Jun 12, 2009 under Health

I have been thinking about this. I wonder if I can do it? I know that my friend Rosa converted to veganism not so long ago. I admire her for her discipline.

I read somewhere that vegetarians lives longer, need less sleep, and have lower risks of illnesses like cancer and heart diseases and etc.

I am still thinking about it. I know it would be good for my mind and body.

What are your thoughts on this? Are you a vegan or do you know any person who converted to veganism too? Any tips?

  1. I’m not a vegan, but respect people who are. It’s not easy to become a vegan, cos for me I love to eat meat once in a while. Also, I feel hungry really fast when I eat only vegetables.

I think you need to know your main purpose of becoming a vegan. Is it for good health, or because you love animals? Some people love animals and they stay off animal meat!

Also to be a vegan, you also should know that you’ll need to eat a wide variety of vegetables to get the proper nutrition, as you would most likely lack in vitamin B12 and also protein if you don’t eat a wide enough range of vegetables.

  2. hi sis. yes, vegetarian lives longer and strong too, like a cow! lol. hmm, sa expercience ko.. medyo nahirapan ako nung una. pero masasanay ka din. at oo, mga vegan or vegetarian kasi loves animal. kumbaga ayaw saktan ang animals and kaibigan sila. (they doesn’t like hurting animals) like my husband, makatapak lang siya nang frog or makakita siya nang dog na sinasaktan – naiiyak na siya at nagagalit siya. kung b12 naman, you can buy vitamin b12 – i am taking vitamin b12 – one tablets take 6months. pero everyday ako umiinom nang b12. about sa protein naman – you can get protein sa mga vegetarian meat; marami sa manila nagtitinda nang vegan meat products, check mo ‘tong site na to. http://www.eat-v.com/ website namin yan, business namin kasi nuon nagtitinda nang vegan products.

its good for your baby too (like my baby) malakas resistensya.

Watch the “Earthlings” documentary narrated by Joaquin Phoenix who is a vegan: http://veg-tv.info/Earthlings

Or go to youtube and type Earthlings, it’s posted by some people there into several parts. I’m also Filipina and I’m a vegan, I used to be vegetarian but veganism is the only way to stop the violence among animals. Here is a website that explains everything http://www.abolitionistapproach.com/
