Car Registration in the Philippines

Jun 17, 2009 under Personal, Philippines

… is such a headache!!!

We bought a car from a neighbor and apparently the car is registered in Angeles which is in Luzon. We are in Visayas ( Yes, Palawan is now a part of Visayas).

I don’t know if it’s only happening in Palawan or it is all over the Philippines?? I mean come on, how complicated could it be to register a vehicle? I am sure this has been done before.

I am glad I have somebody doing this for me but it still frustrates me to wait and wait for the darn paper. We already have a car insurance and complied to everything they have asked for and yet 2 months already has passed and the registration papers are signed yet.

LTO,you guys are giving me wrinkles!

  4. Ganito talaga sa Pilipinas, kaya others would resort to “under-the-table” processes just to expedite the papers. Sad, but true.

  7. Hi Ms Jade,

In our law, processing is done for 31 days only. If this thing take long it means the you can charge in proper court the person handling the paper.

Fortunately, its another cost so maglagay ka na lang. Yan lang ang gusto nya since the beginning. You look rich kaya hihingi ng malaki yan for sure.

Anyway, can you please change the title of virtual assistant into Philippines call center as we do change our campaign.

    thanks

    Hi guys,
I am an african, and i came to buy an old car from a korean dud. He told me at first that he misplaced the papers of the car, but i could just drive it like that for the mean. Until now, he hasn’t found it,and after paying the amount with 4,000 balance, he is telling me that he doesn’t have the papers and i knew it before buying it. My problem is that I don’t know the requirements and the price for registering the car on my name and the rest. I do have a copy of the annual registration papers, but it’s just a copy and it’s under a filipino name. What can I do? and am planning to replace the engine of the car. Pls help me out… thanks… here is my number, if someone could help, txt me. I just transfered to Pangasinan for my studies but the car is it Santa Rosa with my mechanic.

  14. @Messan – Did you have a deed of sale when you bought the car? You should have asked if the papers are there first before buying. You need all the registration papers from the previous owner in order to transfer the ownership in your name.
