The Future Rural Life Part II

Apr 22, 2009 under Personal, Philippines

We have so many things we want to do for the future. We are thinking of setting up an Eco resort – have I told you that? We are thinking of Family Robinson style where we will make use as much as possible of the natural world – what do you think about that idea? It’s all still being planned and researched as of the moment – there are many things we need to learn about before we dive in into this endeavor.

My dream is to help the village where our farm is located and where we will be living at prosper. I hope promote women empowerment as well – I know that it won’t happen overnight. There are many things to be done before this goal can be reached.

Women in the Philippines are very hardworking and their main goal is to help their family. They don’t care if they don’t get diamond rings when they get engaged or married. Their top priority is to have food on the table three times a day, next is to be able to send their kids to school and to celebrate birthdays with plenty of food.

I also hope to be able to set up some sort of scholarship program for the needy but intelligent kids.

I know that these plans maybe too much for me to do by myself. I am not even sure it would materialized but if the opportunity comes like if I win the lottery or something I will definitely make these things happen.

On the way to the farm, we stopped along side the road to buy some locally grown watermelon for dessert.

Have you seen how huge this watermelon is? It’s almost twice as huge as the woman’s head. She is very happy because we bought two big watermelons and my husband let her keep the change as well.

  12. Best of luck in your eco venture and with your hopes of aiding schoolchildren with their future education. The watermelons in the photo are nearly as big as the smile on the ladies face, that must have been one hell of a tip she received. The Philippines sounds very similar to Thailand and the smiles exact. Best wishes.
