Trip to Hong Kong

Oct 29, 2009 under Personal, Travel

Hey guys! so I am back from our 4 days Hong Kong getaway. I am just doing some house work here as the laundry is piling up! If only we can live without wearing clothes.

Anyhoo, let me tell you a little bit about our 7th year wedding anniversary celebration. This is really something I will always remember. It was wonderful!

We left Friday morning for Hong Kong from Singapore at 7:00 am and arrived in Hong Kong at 10 ish am. From the airport we took the easiest transportation to the hotel which is the hotel shuttle. It cost us HK 130 per person ( SGD23 per person). The ride from the airport was about 50 minutes.

The weather was great but Hong Kong’s sky was hazy, very hazy. I thought that we only have that in Singapore. It’s pretty alarming actually to see this happening in several countries.

From the shuttle I saw this cute Hong Kong bus

We stayed at Holiday Inn Express at Causeway Bay. It’s a great location, right next to Times Square. The cost per night is SGD 156. What we like about staying in IHG hotels is that we accumulate points which we can redeem later on for Free hotel stays. In fact, we have done that several times already.

After checking in – we had lunch at the French Vietnamese Restaurant in the hotel lobby. It’s okay but I think if we should eat Vietnamese food, we should just stick to the traditional Vietnamese, not one that is influenced by French cuisine.

After lunch we started to explore and saw many markets and up scale shops.

After walking for a bit we arrived at the the Golden Bauhinia Square where you will see the imposing Forever Blooming Bauhinia sculpture and just behind the scultupe is the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. When we where there they were having a home and living  exhibit.

From here you can take a stroll along the the Causeway bay promenade and see the old Saipan boat.

After our stroll we took a city  bus tour on a double deck bus, this cost HKD 50 per person.

hong kong bus tourI wasn’t able to make a picture of the bus but here’s one from the bus company itself , photo found here. With this tour, you would see 16 declared monuments and 10 Grade-1 historic buildings.

So that was our first day in Hong Kong, we did quite a lot I think. While there I wondered if my pregnant girlfriend Pehpot already gave birth to Sati my future goddaughter. I can’t wait to welcome her to the world :)
